Robotics in Early Undergraduate Education

چکیده
Introduction to Mobile Robot Programming is a new projectbased course taught at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar to undergraduates early in the curriculum. We describe the course details and relate our experiences and observations. We believe that this course is a valuable introductory computer science course; however, its success requires a significant time commitment from the instructors. The value lies in this course’s ability to add breadth and computational thinking skills that will aid the students as they progress.

Robots and Art: Interactive Art and Robotics Education Program in the Humanities
We describe the design of an undergraduate course in art and robotics that aims to integrate basic concepts of computer science, robotics and art installation for undergraduate students within the problem-based learning model. Our methodology aims to bridge the gap that separates humanities from computer science and engineering education to prepare students to address real world problems in rob...

متن کاملA Mixed Reality Approach to Undergraduate Robotics Education
Teaching robotics to undergraduate students requires a course framework that allows students to learn about robotics in stages, without being overwhelmed with details. Such a framework must also provide the students with a motivating application environment that challenges them to apply what they have learned. Robotics competitions have proven to be an excellent method for motivating students, ...
متن کاملRobotics as a tool for immersive, hands-on freshmen engineering instruction
Hands-on experience plays a key role in undergraduate engineering education. It is a recognized tool for recruitment and retention, as well as for encouraging participation in class and in research outside of the classroom. However, early undergraduate engineering education, especially during the freshman year, is often focused on foundational theory, and delivered through lecture format, rathe...
